Where Stand-up Spout Pouches Can Be Used

A stand-up spout pouch makes it easier to pour or suck out the contents, and it can be closed again and reopened repeatedly — it can be thought of as a stand-up pouch combined with an ordinary bottle mouth. The spout gives the pouch an opening much like that of a bottle, while the bag body keeps the flexible form of a pouch.

Such pouches are generally used for household product packaging, holding liquids, gels and semi-solid products such as beverages, body wash, shampoo, tomato sauce, cooking oil and jelly. Liquids are poured through the spout, while gels and semi-solids can be dispensed in a more flexible way. Because the same format can hold products of quite different viscosity, it is not limited to drinks alone.

Stand-up spout pouch packaging is mainly used for juice drinks, sports drinks, bottled drinking water, suckable jelly and condiments. Beyond the food industry, its use for washing products, daily cosmetics and pharmaceutical products has also been gradually increasing, spreading from beverages into many scenes of everyday life. In each of these areas the pouch is chosen for much the same reasons: it pours or dispenses easily, and it can be closed again after use.

As a relatively new form of packaging, its advantage over conventional formats lies in portability: a stand-up spout pouch fits easily into a backpack or even a pocket, and it shrinks in volume as the contents are used up, which makes it easier to carry. Compared with a rigid container, it also takes up less space once part of the contents has been used.

Looking at these uses together, the range of contents it covers is quite wide: flowable liquids, semi-flowing gels, and semi-solids such as jelly. One family of bag shapes and spout structures can serve both food and daily-chemical applications, which is precisely why it keeps expanding in both markets.
